• Google doc on Matariki to be completed for Friday
• 'Google' Rube Goldberg simple machines to get some ideas for machines that you can make. You need to come to school next WEDNESDAY with an idea on paper.  Equipment needed must also be included along with instructions on how it will work. Equipment for this is NOT needed in school next Tuesday, just the idea.
• We are starting to get into our 'simple machines' inquiry unit.  These are based around Rube Goldberg machines whereby traditional building materials, everyday items, and unique objects are being turned into functional pieces of equipment that work together to execute a simple task. Spend time gathering items from around your house, purchasing materials from stores, and/or hunting for unique objects at car boot sales. Possible building materials include:

• Dominos
• Wooden boards
• Toilet paper rolls
• CDs or floppy discs
• Fans
• Toy cars
• Skateboards
• Action figures
• PVC pipe
• Duct Tape
• Peg boards
• Zip Ties
• Magnets
• Marbles
• String
• Get creative!

Homework Due Week 4 - (Friday 27th May)

• 250 word narrative on a topic of your choice due to Mrs Parker on FRIDAY
• Spelling words to be learnt for THURSDAY
• PE top to be brought to school each Mon/Tue/Wed for sport
• Diaries to be signed for TUE

Homework due Week 3 (Fri 20th May)

• 100wc for Thur (please either email these or send via google docs)

• Diaries signed for tomorrow (Tue)
• Extra PE tops for Tue and Wed
• Spelling words to be learnt for Thur
• Math-a-thon for Fri - revise this for Fri (*****parents, please note that there was not a huge movement on scores last week.  Please help you child by going over these questions at home with them.)

Take a look at the above picture and then think where you would go if you took that stairway? What new world would you discover? Is it inhabited? Are there animals and plants and if so what do they look like?
